Research Proposals

  1. Scientific/technical objectives (maximum two sentences)

    2. what will be achieved by the end of the project, not its further development or subsequent application in industry or in other user organisation

      Examples:
    • The objective of ROBOFISH is to integrate the technologies of computer vision, robotics and decision processing for the automatic handling of fish. The robotic system will be used to align fish on heading or filleting machines, with inspection of the processed fish providing control of the robot.
    • The objectives of G3CARD are to investigate the use of self timed logic for improving the security of smartcards, and evaluate the effectiveness in some demonstrations, including electronic chequebook and authorisation

  2. Mesurable results (maximum two sentences)

    3. quantitative description of the scientific/technical objectives
      Examples:
    • Tool for software verification will have a raw verification speed of over 60 lines of software code per machine hour and an overall productivity level of 50 lines per person day
    • The goal of G3CARD is an order of magnitude (*10) increase in the cost of attack, thus improving security by an order of magnitude as well

  3. The state-of-the-art (half page)

    4. Describe current research by teams around the world in the area of the proposal idea. This means information available to your competitors.

    Examples: software engineers in large companies; hospital doctors, instrument manufacturers

    9. If possible, estimate the numbers of potential users in Europe. These might be divided by eg by size, sector, country
